Samarpan is a grassroots development organization working for over two decades in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. We focus on empowering marginalized communities—especially children, women, and youth—through initiatives in education, health and nutrition, livelihoods, and social entitlements. Rooted in community participation and local governance, our work aims to create sustainable, inclusive, and dignified lives for all.
To organize and empower exploited and oppressed communities, enabling them to control natural resources and promote decentralization. We aim to foster self-rule, self-reliance, and active participation of children, youth, and people (CYP) in creating an egalitarian society. This society will be grounded in freedom and justice, enriched by the values of love, prosperity, and happiness.
Samarpan is a campaign launched with the aim to bring the children involved in the illegal mica mines of Koderma into the mainstream of education by freeing them. Mr. Indramani Sahu and his other young friends started it together. Since then, Samarpan has continued to drive initiatives towards capacity building, fostering partnerships, ensuring entitlements, water conservation, livelihood, and making a lasting impact on the health and rights of marginalized people. At that time in our mica mines area, most of the children were malnourished and had several health problems, and were not attending school. To educate the children, Samarpan started A Child Rights Awareness campaign in the Mica Mines area of Koderma District. At that time, Samarpan’s main aim was only to ensure child rights through a strengthened community. Now, Samarpan’s initiatives address issues related to Child rights, Women’s empowerment, Livelihood, Water Conservation, Education, Health, Nutrition, and Social Security. After a continuous struggle, these days the work of Samarpan’s work expanded to other areas of Jharkhand and UP. We are working with the support of PHF, TDH, TDH Foundation, RMI, CIF, Welspun Foundation, Nabard, MWCD, and Govt. of Jharkhand. In 2016 Samarpan collaborated with CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF). It is a nodal agency of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development acting as the parent organization for setting up, managing, and monitoring the CHILDLINE 1098 service all over the country. It is said that work, experience, and the urge to learn takes one closer to the goal. For this, it helps in setting vision, mission, objectives, and policies. We were all from bad financial backgrounds. There was no funding support then. Some of us used to write articles in newspapers on social issues. Some used to collect money by doing street plays. Some used to raise funds at the local level by taking donation receipts. All the money received in this way was used for the expansion of the organization.
To build an egalitarian society that upholds freedom and justice, enriched with values of love, prosperity, and happiness for all.
